A Visual Journey

Ellen Schnell grew up in an artistic family, as her father was an artist/art teacher and mother a musician/music teacher. But early on her heart drifted to the visual arts. Majoring in art at the University of Central Florida and shortly after graduating she began teaching others. Teaching K-12 art then to mainly high school and then adults at an art studio in studio in the Orlando area.

Ellen’s artwork has received numerous awards for her portraits, receiving a Best of Show in the city of Orlando Public Art Show along with another first place in oils. Ellen has won several awards in street painting, winning best of show at the Disney Festival of the Masters.

Ellen’s has developed a style of realism mixed with looser brush strokes. From a distance her work portrays reality but on closer inspection she maintains a liveliness through brushstrokes of color. Ever concentrating on how light and shadow are portrayed through the use of color.
